Using your funding at our table

Many of the players at our tables are funded through provincial programmes rather than paying privately. Here is which funding applies to whom — and what we will not claim on your behalf.

Which one applies to you?

Two separate programmes, for two different groups of people.

Passport

Passport is provincial funding from the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, for adults with a developmental disability.

Daniel runs these tables himself, and they are recreational games rather than therapy. If you want the therapeutic version instead, that runs through Heart & Mind Hub.

How our sessions fit

  • A recurring social commitment with the same people each week — the thing that is hardest to find after school and day programmes end.
  • Community participation that is genuinely age-appropriate for an adult, not a children's activity resized.
  • Respite hours for a primary caregiver, in a session the player looks forward to rather than tolerates.

Worth knowing — Every Passport agreement is written individually, so the wording of yours decides what it covers. Your coordinator is the one who can confirm it.

Ontario Autism Program

The Ontario Autism Program is provincial funding from the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. Families receive it and direct it toward the services they choose.

Our OAP sessions are therapy. They are run by psychotherapists at Heart & Mind Hub. Daniel is at the table as the Executive Function and Social Skills coach, following each player's therapeutic goals alongside the psychotherapist.

Heart & Mind Hub

Delivered withOur OAP sessions are therapy, run by psychotherapists at Heart & Mind Hub. Daniel works alongside them as the Executive Function and Social Skills coach.

How the sessions work

  • A psychotherapist from Heart & Mind Hub leads the session and holds the therapeutic goals for each player.
  • Daniel runs the game itself and coaches the executive-function and social-skills work inside it — turn-taking, flexible thinking, and recovering when a plan does not survive contact with the dice.
  • Safety tools built into how the table runs: agreed limits, a way to pause a scene, and no forced participation.

Worth knowing — Because this stream is delivered through Heart & Mind Hub, they are the right people to answer the funding question. Tell us and we will put you in touch.

Every item is set out in full in the provider information pack, which we will send you.

Step by step

How it works

OAP — two steps

  1. Tell us about the player

Use the booking form and choose Community / Therapy Stream. Age, what they enjoy, and anything we should know to run the table well.

  2. We bring in Heart & Mind Hub

Daniel submits the request to Heart & Mind Hub, and the conversation continues with them from there — goals, funding and scheduling.

Passport

  1. Therapy, or just great games?

If therapy is involved, it follows the OAP steps above through Heart & Mind Hub. For non-therapeutic games, adults can use Passport funding directly with us.

  2. Tell us about your table

Use the booking form, or sign up for an upcoming block when one is posted.

  3. Check with your coordinator

Your support coordinator verifies that Passport funding covers it — before anything is booked and before you pay.

  4. Secure your spot

A deposit or fee by e-transfer secures your place at the table.

The short answer

Is it therapy?

In the therapy stream, yes. Those sessions are therapy, and they are run by the psychotherapists at Heart & Mind Hub.

With Passport funding, it can be — if you choose. Routed through the same therapy stream, a Passport-funded place is therapy too; Daniel also runs regular, non-therapeutic games for adults who use Passport funding directly.

Daniel's part is support. As an Executive Function & Social Skills Coach, he follows the therapeutic goals set for each person and works with the psychotherapist to support them at the table.

Tabletop roleplaying lends itself to this work. Players explore thoughts, feelings and challenges safely through a character, build confidence and social skills, practise negotiation, and make mistakes in a safe place that can be reflected on afterwards.

The games Daniel runs on his own, outside the therapy stream, are not therapy.

Straight answers

What we do not claim

We would rather you heard this from us than found out at claim time.

  • We cannot tell you whether your funding will approve a claim. Your coordinator decides that. Anyone who promises otherwise is guessing.
  • We do not submit claims for you and we are not a payment agent. You pay us and claim it back the way your programme works.

Who is running the sessions

Daniel Rocha runs the games. He completed the Executive Function & Social Skills Coach Program through Heart & Mind Hub.

In the therapy stream — OAP, and Passport or private health insurance where the therapeutic version is what you want — a psychotherapist from Heart & Mind Hub leads the session and holds the therapeutic goals. Daniel works with them: he runs the game, and coaches the executive-function and social-skills work inside it.

In every other session Daniel is on his own, and the game is recreational rather than therapeutic. Which one you are booking is worth being clear about before any money moves.

Before you ask

Funding questions, answered

We work with Heart & Mind Hub, who are happy to talk with you about using your funding — OAP, Passport, or private health insurance — toward therapeutic tabletop roleplaying with Roll with Guidance. For non-therapeutic games, adults may use Passport funding directly with us.

That is a question for Heart & Mind Hub, and they are happy to have it. They can talk through OAP, Passport and private health insurance for therapeutic D&D or Daggerheart run with Roll with Guidance. Tell us and we will make the introduction.

It depends which stream you are in. Our OAP sessions are therapy, and a psychotherapist from Heart & Mind Hub leads them — Daniel runs the game and coaches the executive-function and social-skills work alongside them. Every other session is Daniel on his own, running a recreational game. He completed the Executive Function & Social Skills Coach Program through Heart & Mind Hub.

Then nothing is booked and you owe us nothing. That is why the coordinator conversation happens before the booking rather than after it.

Start with a question, not a booking

Tell us who the player is and which funding you hold. We will point you to the right next step — Heart & Mind Hub for the therapy stream, or straight to us for Passport-funded games.
